Snapshots From Home

I believe that you can tell a lot about a person, by taking a peek inside their home, don't you think?  A home reflects the many loves of the people that live there.... it should show personality too. I hope through my snapshots from home you'll feel as if you know me a little better....in case you are wondering, our home's a cozy 1200 square feet!

Welcome to our "Home Sweet Home"

The heart of the home is our kitchen...and just off the kitchen are french doors leading outside....
From the french doors... is our back porch,...I've learned to embrace it's shabby rustic look....
We live a little bit out of town, out in the country on 1.25 acres.... on a dirt road, it's inland Florida about 28 miles from the coast... and as you can see, we have a sandy yard, and to be honest, we haven't had much luck getting much grass to grow...after nearly 20 years, I've learned to accept what will grow.... and three years ago we planted a yard full of short leaf sand pines....about a third survived and they are becoming established now and growing in well...
This is my kitchen area....I like using touches of red in here for a pop of color...the vintage floral tin has become one of my favorite things in here...

And I recently added this little hand painted metal roofed cottage to the top of the stove and this old floral plate on the tiny wall beside the stove....I love decorating with vintage china...

Hanging beside my refrigerator is this small old table cloth that belonged to my Great-grandmother, she hemmed the edges and added the zig-zag embroidery ....

On top of the refrigerator is my vintage rooster collection....and an old floral platter....
A bucket of hydrangeas on the table for summer....

I like dried roses.....and to look around my home, you'd think I've saved every one I ever got......

This was one of my favorite basket vignettes...I created this vignette using a white metal oblong floral embossed bucket, lace doilies, birds, and nests, sea shells and a for touch of vintage cottage charm....the pink floral china platter and miniature floral oil painting....I should round up all of this stuff again and re-assemble this for my summer home decor...maybe I will!

Summertime... Furniture with White Slipcovers....

More vintage coastal accents for summer....

I like using vintage plates in my home decor.... I can always find another one to take in... they are so pretty to display trinkets on and to hang on the walls too....

Vintage hand embroidery and needlepoint are some of my favorite things...they are little works of art...

Several years ago, my husband made this decorative wood piece for the tops of our mirrors that are in between the sofa in the living room....I was so proud of him, he created just what I'd envisioned....(photo below)

Let's take a peek inside the curio cabinet...

Furniture without the white slipcovers....

Springtime...calls for butterflies and furniture with white slipcovers...

Dining Room for Easter...
Lily of the Valley's are my favorites
More Easter....

My little white shelf....my husband made this from a piece of wood and some vintage wooden brackets that we found and bought at a yard sale, they came off of an old house, I painted the shelf white...and I have one exactly like it in my bathroom too....

More vintage plates for hanging on the wall...I do love old plates!

My little blue hutch that I made over...

It looked like this when I found it...

The next three photos are from my photo files 2008, a Valentine's Vignette using vintage finds...

Vignette using a  milk glass compote for a candle holder and vintage finds...and pile of cozy pillows...and my silver tea set and decorating with old vintage china plates again...

A vignette with a platter from my shop photo files...above ....

I so admire hand painted art....especially ones with roses ...

Cottage prints take me away...this one on my old wooden jewelry box is my favorite...
Collection of vanity items...

Vintage bottles and boxes.....dried roses and lavender in a pretty fluted glass hobnail dish...

old perfume boxes....and hand painted roses trinket holder....
I love the freshness of white linens and mixing it up with some pretty floral rosey prints...
My bedroom redo with my tufted upholstered headboard....
 Decorating with vintage china plates....

I've always loved the romance that a chandelier lends to a bedroom...

Vintage Brooch Collection...

 More Collections...

Pretty milk glass...

Vintage china makes a pretty place to display seashells and other trinkets....

An old silver miniature creamer makes a sweet pincushion...and this was so easy to make....

Pretty floral hankies have been one of my favorite things to collect over the years....
And vintage aprons...

I hope you enjoyed the little home tour, and my hopes are that maybe you found a few decorating ideas that you can use here too!

As things change and evolve .....I'll be adding more snapshots!
