Happy New Year!

I know I'm a little late, but I wanted to still wish everyone a Happy New Year! I hope it's the best one ever for you all! I wanted to say that I will be away from my blog for now to pursue some other creative interests in my life.... like, learn how to use my new camera, and hopefully find a little more free time too. I'm sure sometime in the future...I will return again, so please stay tuned!

Have A Very Happy New Year!

Decorating For Fall ....

I can't believe the first week of October is already gone!  Our weather has still been very hot, (thank goodness for air conditioning), but I figured it was time to warm things up a little bit around here inside, so I've been doing some fall decorating and I wanted to share some of the changes I've made for the season....in case you are late in decorating (like me) and need some late fall inspiration....

My shabby white shelf got a seasonal makeover.....everything on the shelf is second hand, and came either from thrift stores, flea markets, yard sales or antique malls.... except for the berries, the bird and the velvet pumpkin...
I tried not to go overboard this year with my decorating, I'm trying to keep things simple with some harvest touches from nature...
the dried hydrangeas are from my two hydrangea bushes. I didn't get very many, but it's the first ones I've had in years, so I am so happy to get these this year....

Our dining room got a change of slipcovers, some sunflowers, and a harvest fruit swag over the chalkboard sign. The sunflower centerpiece arrangement was the easiest I've ever made, it only took minutes...the vase is made from a large ball jar, burlap, jute string twine, and wired ribbon bow with berries.  I wrapped the ball jar with a piece of burlap, and I tied up the burlap with jute string and then tied on a wired ribbon bow with berries to the front of it, I just placed the sunflowers in the vase, no foam necessary)....

This is what our shabby rustic back porch looks like right now. We will be giving it a cleaning and a staining in the very near future.... but for now.....we bought some rocking chairs and so we've been rocking away this month....I'm looking forward to sitting out here even more in the fall and winter months, when things cool off....

I was happy that I was able to make some matching wreaths this year for my back porch ...using grapevine wreaths that I already had on hand, plus I had just enough stuff that I'd picked up last year on clearance to make both wreaths. I wanted to have one for each side of the french doors this year... they were very inexpensive to make since most everything I used was 75%-90% off! End of season clearance is always a great time to get bargains for the next season!

A few simple decorations along with apple & cinnamon scented candles warmed things up around here for the fall season! We're still waiting on the cooler temps to arrive...I'm hoping they'll get here soon, I'm thinking probably near the end of the month! Needless to say, I can hardly wait!
I hope you are enjoying your fall!

Thanks for stopping by to see what I've been up to lately around the house!

Happy Fall Y'all!

It's hard to believe that it's already the 1st day of Fall!  I say that because down here in the south, it's been so hot and humid, that we've still been swimming and floating down the creek....taking in what's left of summer. It will be a little longer before the autumn winds start blowing our way here, but I can hardly wait for the cool down!

Even though it doesn't feel much like fall yet, the calendar says it's so.....
So, I'm celebrating by adding some autumn cheer to my blog today! This would be the fall of my dreams....

While in fall dreaming mode, I was looking through one of my Autumn Reflections Ideals poem books, (it's filled with beautiful poetry, perfect for the season), I found this lovely poem and had to share parts of it here with you....

Leaves In The Wind

"My thoughts today are like leaves in the wind,
blown and dancing down from a tree....

My dreams reach out past the scarlet woods....
Though I've bade good-bye to summer's grace....

I discover loveliness as sweet...
In the windy arms of fall..."

O Lord of the harvest lands, hear my song,
As I raise it now to Thee,

With grateful praises for seasons past
In a happy melody.

But most of all do I thank Thee, Lord,
for that wondrous, loving plan,

Which gave a treasure so filled with joy,
as this autumn day to man."

                                                         ~Louise Weibert Sutton

I'm looking forward to all of the goodness this season will bring with it, aren't you?!
I hope that you all have a beautiful Autumn day!
Thanks for stopping by today!

Vanity Collectibles Displaying Collections

Today I thought it would be fun to re-visit my photo files from the past and share with you how I've displayed some more of my vanity collections. It's hard for me to believe, that I've had the faded gold metal mirrored vanity tray (below) since I was 17 years old! It was a Christmas gift from my precious Mama, so I'll always be holding onto it. Plus, a little bit of shabbiness, aging and wear, only adds to the vintage charm of it too, right?!

Revisiting my shabby white bathroom shelf with vanity items too!

Thanks again for stopping by!
