Antebellum Plantation Tour and Tour of Stone Mountain Park...

Mid October, my husband and I visited Stone Mountain Park near Atlanta Georgia....this place was beautiful with a lot of nature to enjoy, plus a historic Antebellum Plantation Area, Grist Mill, Covered Bridge and More.  I wanted to share some photos with you from our trip.

We road the train within the park that took a journey around the Stone Mountain....

We also took the skyride to the top to take in the views up there....

Inside the park there are restaurants and candy shops...it was festive and fun with displays of pumpkins around every corner....

there were even some cute displays featuring movies and characters....Wizard of Oz...

Gone With The Wind....

 Frozen and Star Wars....so cute!

The park is fairly large and  so we drove around in our car to visit the whole area of Stone Mountain Park, there are many hiking trails and things to do out in nature, we were glad they gave us a driving map of the park upon our arrival.

We drove over to the Antebellum Plantation .... and we took a self guided tour of the grounds there, I loved this place so rich in history....it was like stepping back in time....

 The Dickey House Circa 1840....

I loved touring the homes and imagining what it must have been like to live back in those days....can you imagine?

This was the view from the upstairs window from the stair landing...

This was the covered back porch area facing the formal gardens...

The Carriage House and Barn Area

Doctor's Cabin Circa 1826...

This home above is the Thornton House Circa 1792...

The Kingston House Circa 1845....

The Cook's House....

Old School House Circa 1875....

After visiting the historic buildings plantation area we drove to a little island and road over this one lane beautiful covered bridge....we hiked the King's Trail on the island that was alongside the lake....

the lakeside views were so pretty....we couldn't have asked for more beautiful weather

Then we drove to the Grist Mill

and visited the Quarry Exhibit...

We enjoyed our little fall get away together just the two of us, despite the Atlanta traffic and the fact that we at some point (not on purpose)  had our GPS set to avoid freeways and interstates to get to our destination, (yes really). We took many back road country roads and ended up on the actual narrow streets of Atlanta Georgia taking the back roads into Stone Mountain, Ga where we stayed....we are sometimes technically challenged to say the least lol!  It seemed to take twice the time as it should have to get there, but what can I say, we made a memory together, and oh we laughed so much the night we finally got to the hotel and re-couped and re-grouped. I'm sure we'll always think back and have a good belly laugh about it.  We wish we would have gotten to see more fall foilage, there was a little bit, but it was not peaking.  I will hold this trip in my heart forever and cherish the memories we were blessed enough to make together there.....I hope you enjoyed coming along for the tour!
