More Pretty Plates and Other Vintage Finds....

I've been out junkin' again and found a few more pretty plates to add to my growing collection.....and some other vintage finds too.... so I thought it would be fun to show you today what I found ....
this one above is Made in England...
This one is so beautiful, with hand painted roses, it's Made in France...
a little shabby faded rose one ...
and also I salvaged a piece of embroidery and decided to frame it in this hoop....
I can't pass up chintz rose china anything.....so this watering can trinket holder had to come home with me....

and I made a pretty purple floral Victorian boot pincushion..... by simply adding some pillow stuffing and purple material to the top of the little boot....
this vintage vanity powder tin Avon Topaze looks old so I liked it...
and another decorative plate....green transferware, Staffordshire,  Made in England...(I've found that the green is one of the harder colors in transferware to find)....
Vintage oval framed needlepoint rose pictures......

and a framed old Paris, France postcard....with a tied roses bouquet design....

I have so many things I'd love to share with you that I'm doing around the house, and how I'm decorating with my latest vintage finds.... and will share as often as I can. I can't do as much as I once could, and  as much as I'd love to, I can't sit at the computer as much as I once did in the past, my body tells me when I have to stop or slow down, and I've learned to listen as not to hurt my arm. I do have many more things to share with you here though and will as often as I can.

As always, thanks for stopping by for a visit!
We'll talk again soon!

A Vintage Happy Mother's Day Card....

Sharing this old card from around the 1950's... it's from my card collection.... the inside of the card says:

"May Mother's Day be bright with Joy
And may each happy minute
Bring you a warm and hearty glow
With all the cheer that's in it
And furthermore, I'm hoping too,
Your future days will hold
Real happiness that shines for you
In a measure yet untold"

Wishing everyone a very Happy Mother's Day today!

For the Love of Vintage Fabrics....

I recently went to a trading post located out in the country in southeast Alabama....my husband and I had a fun time plundering around.... and I came home with this old tattered quilt. It had holes, lots of wear and tear, but I couldn't help myself, I couldn't leave it there, I just couldn't, it had been so neglected...it needed to be rescued. I know that someone out there had spent a lot of time making it, and I felt like some of the pretty antique fabric at least could be cut and salvaged and re-purposed into some sewing projects and crafty creations.

I imagine some of the pieces were once feed sacks and fabrics from unmendable clothing. My great-grandmother made several quilts similar to this and they were passed down to my grandma, I loved looking at them when I was a little girl. Grandma could tell me what each fabric on the quilt once was...a dress, pants, shirt, her dad's tie, an apron ect...I was amazed by that. The quilts were very precious to her.  From a very young age, I had an appreciation for old hand sewn quilts, especially the one's from the early 1900's and the depression era. I feel like this one I found is from around that time or maybe older. I am always on the hunt for anything quilted.

This quilt did need to be washed, there was no way around it. So it got laundered, and as expected, some of the quilt was not salvageable at all.... but I'm happy that I was able to save a lot of it, and there are many pieces of the quilt that are in good enough shape to still be re-purposed.....

These pieces will be wonderful to incorporate into a sewing project or other crafty creation! I've seen lots of interesting things made from primitive quilt scraps....jewelry, collages, ornaments, and these could even be sewn together and framed.  I'll be sure to show you what I decide to do with the pieces that  I kept....I've got a few ideas...

Tell me, have you found any fun old treasures lately? What was the best thing you ever rescued while out junkin'?

Have a great rest of the week...thanks for stopping by today!

*Edited to add photos of some of the ways I re-purposed this old quilt....as wall hangings....

Showcased around my front door....

And displayed on my shabby white shelf....

Thanks again for stopping by!
